Japanese companies have expressed a desire to cooperate with Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade held separate meetings with the heads of Japanese companies Mitsubishi Corporation, Marubeni Corporation and Sumitomo Corporation. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade.

During a conversation with the head of the representative office of Mitsubishi Corporation, J. Sano, a number of issues related to the participation of the Japanese holding in the implementation of investment projects in Uzbekistan, in particular in the field of electric power, chemical and gas chemical industries, were discussed. No less promising at the moment is the introduction by the company of advanced technologies in the country's agricultural sector in order to increase productivity by modernizing existing drip irrigation systems and creating additional capacities for storing fruits and vegetables.

The next meeting was with A. Sagar, Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer of the Energy Division of Marubeni Corporation. The subject of the dialogue was also the elaborated export agreements and project initiatives. One of them - a multiphase project to introduce cogeneration technologies in five cities of the Republic: Bukhara, Nukus, Urgench, Ferghana and Kuvasay (Ferghana region) - is extremely important for the development of energy and the sphere of housing and communal services in Uzbekistan. They also tracked the progress of negotiations on the creation of joint production of finished textile products, electrical and household equipment, as well as on attracting Japanese technology to projects for the organization of agricultural clusters and greenhouse complexes.

With the head of the representative office of Sumitomo Corporation R. Kayashima, the current state of negotiations on the implementation of a number of projects in the field of solar, wind and thermal energy, including through public-private partnerships, was discussed. Separately, the prerequisites for the construction of a multimodal logistics complex in the Tashkent region were considered: due to its favorable geographical location, the region is a major transportation hub for rail, road and air communications and can become a “center of attraction”, including for trade relations with Japanese companies.

Based on the results of the meetings, the parties determined the procedure for further actions in the framework of the agreements being worked out and were determined by joint efforts to accelerate the course of the negotiation processes.
