Japan Deports Uzbek Citizen Over Visa Violation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 3 April, Japan’s Immigration Services Agency deported a citizen of Uzbekistan who had been residing in the country illegally, according to the Embassy of Japan in Uzbekistan.

The individual had entered Japan on a short-term visa and later applied for refugee status. After his application was rejected, he remained in the country in violation of immigration rules.

Japanese authorities reiterated that short-term visas issued for tourism, business trips, or family visits strictly prohibit employment. Claims suggesting that individuals can legally remain in Japan for extended periods or work while applying for refugee status are false.

In cases of rejection, applicants may be placed in immigration detention centers or forcibly returned to their home countries. Providing false information or using illegal methods during the application process may result in serious legal consequences, the embassy said.

Japanese officials strongly advised against relying on intermediaries who promise long-term stays or legal employment, warning that improperly submitted applications could negatively affect the possibility of re-entering the country in the future.
