Jamshid Khodjaev Discusses New Projects and 2030 Strategy with ADB

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 17 November, in Tashkent, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev held a meeting with Masato Kanda, President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The meeting was also attended by Akram Aliyev, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade.

During the discussions, the parties reviewed the current state of cooperation and outlined further areas of interaction, marking the 30th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s partnership with the ADB.

Special attention was given to comprehensive support for reforms and the implementation of projects in key sectors, including transport, energy, water supply, education, private sector development, and entrepreneurship support. The Uzbek side expressed its appreciation to the ADB for its significant contribution to improving living standards and advancing the country’s economy.

In preparation for the 59th Annual Meeting of the ADB Board of Governors, scheduled for May 2026 in Samarkand, the parties discussed the approval of a joint roadmap for coordinating activities.

Medium-term initiatives were also reviewed, including expanding financing mechanisms, developing economic zone infrastructure, supporting employment for women and youth, promoting export-oriented enterprises, and strengthening the role of the private sector. Discussions included the preparation of a new Uzbekistan–ADB Partnership Program for 2026–2030.

As a result of the meeting, a US$100 million loan agreement was signed under the “STEM in Secondary Education” project, aimed at modernizing the teaching of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in schools across the country.
