JA Solar to Supply Photovoltaic Modules for 1.2 GW Solar Power Plants in Samarkand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — JA Solar has announced the signing of a contract to supply photovoltaic modules with EPC contractor Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for two utility-scale solar power plants—Samarkand 1 and Samarkand 2—in Uzbekistan.

Under the agreement, JA Solar will deliver all photovoltaic modules for the projects, further strengthening its position as a key solutions provider in Central Asia’s energy transition.

The Samarkand projects are being developed by ACWA Power and support Uzbekistan’s national goal of increasing the share of renewable energy in electricity generation to 25% by 2030. The combined installed capacity of the two plants will total 1.2 GW.

Once commissioned, the facilities are expected to generate enough electricity to supply around 600,000 households and reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 1.4 million tonnes annually.

JA Solar Executive Vice President Aiqing Yang said the company was pleased to support strategically important projects in cooperation with global partners.

“Our high-efficiency and reliable modules are designed to maximize energy output across diverse climatic conditions. This contract confirms our partners’ trust in our technologies and our ability to deliver large-scale projects,” he noted.
