Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 3 February 2020, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Said Rustamov held talks with the head of the Government Partnerships International (GPI), UK, Nicola Smith, and senior adviser on Central Asia GPI Leyla Brosnan.
GPI is a British agency, providing assistance to developing countries in improving the effectiveness of state institutions. Since 2018, the GPI Regional Office has been operating at the British diplomatic mission in Tashkent.
During the meeting, issues of current GPI cooperation with Uzbekistan were discussed, in particular, the British side’s assistance to the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan in the development of the draft Unified Information Portal “advice.uz”, as well as the training of more than 100 employees of the department, including its regional divisions, in the provision of high-quality public services to the population.
Based on the positive experience, agreements were reached on expanding practical cooperation with the GPI through other departments of Uzbekistan, in particular, the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
It is planned that, with the support of the GPI, specialized training seminars will be organized on the basis of ASU, as well as study tours for students of the Academy to the UK to exchange experiences on improving the public administration system, interagency coordination, interaction with the public and the media.
For a substantive discussion of these issues, as well as the conclusion of a memorandum with ASU, GPI head Nicola Smith will visit Uzbekistan in late March.
GPI representatives also expressed interest in participating in the Tashkent Law Spring international legal forum, which will be held 23-25 April 2020 in Tashkent.
