Issues of cooperation for the development of the architectural monument Achsikent were discussed in Rome

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 16-21 May 2019, Italy was visited by an expert group led by the deputy khokim of Namangan region, Bahromjon Nurmatov.

The visit was organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Italy in the framework of the implementation of the order of the head of our state, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, given during his visit to Namangan region from February 28 to March 1.

The goal is to familiarize with the organization of the work of archaeological open-air museums in Italy and to hold mass events on their territory for the subsequent preparation of relevant proposals for the Ahsikent Archaeological Park project.

Negotiations were held with the leadership of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, the City Hall of Rome, the Sapienza Metropolitan University, the Mediterranean Institute of Asia and Africa (ISMAA), the CIVITA Foundation and a number of Italian companies.

The delegation, accompanied by Italian specialists, visited such world-famous cultural and historical objects as the Roman Forum, the Colosseum, the Museum of the Imperial Forums and the Emperor Troyan Market, the ancient Roman port Ostia Antica, the National Museum of Rome the Palace of Altemps, and the Central Institute of Catalog and Documentation (ICCD), the Central Institute for the Restoration and Conservation of Archival and Library Heritage (ICRCPAL) and the Higher Institute for Restoration and Conservation (ISCR), which are part of the Italian Ministry of Culture.

The Uzbek specialists took part in a unique multimedia historical show in 3D format “Forum of Julius Caesar”, within which a complex system of projectors and an audio system with headphones on the territory of architectural monuments makes a journey during the reign of the ancient Roman figure.

During the meetings, the Italian side was acquainted with the measures taken to preserve and popularize the cultural and historical heritage in Uzbekistan and to expand the tourist potential, in particular, to create a tourist complex near the Akhsikent archaeological park.

Following the negotiations, preliminary agreements were reached on deepening cooperation on the development of the Ahsikent project, in particular, establishing a scientific partnership, holding cultural and propaganda activities in Italy in 2019-2020 to promote this new tourist destination in Uzbekistan.
