Issues of Cooperation Discussed Within the Framework of the “Iran–Uzbekistan” Interparliamentary Group
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held a working meeting with Javad Nikbin, a member of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran and Chairman of the “Iran–Uzbekistan” Interparliamentary Friendship Group.
During the discussion, Javad Nikbin emphasized that Uzbekistan’s comprehensive reforms in recent years, along with the country’s balanced foreign policy, have created a favorable and friendly atmosphere in the region.
The parties noted that multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Iran is actively developing and has reached a new level, facilitated by the political will and joint efforts of the leaders of both countries.
Special attention during the meeting was given to the development of interparliamentary interaction. It was stressed that regular dialogues and reciprocal visits by parliamentary leaders contribute to strengthening bilateral relations.
The parties also discussed expanding cooperation in the areas of security, trade, investment, transport, and tourism, as well as the need for strict parliamentary oversight of the implementation of agreements reached at the highest state level.
In addition, they exchanged views on prospects for collaboration in medicine and nanotechnology, as well as on using Iranian ports to provide Uzbekistan with access to the sea. Opportunities for establishing links between the regions of the two countries in cultural, humanitarian, economic, and social spheres were also discussed.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and implement promising joint projects.
