Issues of accession of Uzbekistan to WTO discussed
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 20 August 2019, a seminar was held in the building of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development on the specifics and upcoming work on the negotiation process of Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), the press service of the committee said.
The seminar was attended by international consultants, including Jovan Jekic, Advisor to the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade on WTO issues. Jovan Jekic has been working in the field of international commercial law, intellectual property protection, customs rules and procedures, legal regulation of trade policy, trade and investment policy for more than 35 years.
In connection with the processes of accession of Uzbekistan to the WTO, a lot of analytical and organizational work is being carried out, as well as the “Road Map” has been approved. In addition, the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development is involved in this process and it is expected that after Uzbekistan joins the WTO, certain obligations can be made in the field of regulation of services and tourism.
There is also work to adapt the national legislation of Uzbekistan, directly or indirectly regulating the tourism sector. The meeting was held in a constructive atmosphere, at which a wide range of issues and problems, and the procedures for Uzbekistan’s entry into the WTO were discussed.
