Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Israel, together with the Holon Institute of Technology, held a video conference with prominent immigrants from Uzbekistan, Dunyo news agency reported.
The meeting participants were informed in detail about measures taken in Uzbekistan to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country. It was also announced that a special settlement account had been launched at the Embassy to collect charitable funds for further referral to the Public Fund “Uzbekistan mer-shafkat wa salomatlik” under the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan and to support the efforts of the country’s leadership to combat COVID-19.
In his speech, the president of the Holon Institute of Technology, Professor Eduard Yakubov, called for charity as a token of gratitude to the people of Uzbekistan, who helped hundreds of thousands of Jews during the war. “In the difficult times of World War II, Uzbekistan opened its heart and accepted, and saved us! We remember and do not forget the invaluable help that the fraternal Uzbek people rendered to us. Remember solidarity and outstretched hand. In today’s situation, in a pandemic, we are not indifferent to the fate and development of Uzbekistan. We will lend a helping hand so that our dear Uzbekistan does not stop its aspiring progressive development,” he said.
On the part of the participants of the event, this charity event found full support and expressed readiness to disseminate this initiative among the natives of Uzbekistan, as well as friends who are not indifferent to the country.
During the meeting, agreements were reached on widespread coverage of the charity event in the Israeli media, including newspapers, radio, and social networks, the opening of a special group on Facebook to unite immigrants from Uzbekistan in Israel, and the holding of the meeting weekly in video format with an expansion of its composition participants.
