Islam Karimov and Didier Burkhalter hold talks in Tashkent
During the meeting, Islam Karimov underlined that Uzbekistan is considering Switzerland and long and reliable partner, which occupies important place in international politics and is commonly recognized international economic and financial center, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan said.
During meeting, the Presidents exchanged opinion on key issues of the Uzbek-Swiss relations, perspective directions of their development in political, trade-economic, investment, cultural-humanitarian and other spheres.
It was underlined that common or close positions of two states on many regional and international issues create favourable conditions for interaction within international organizations such as UN, OSCE and others.
In this context President Didier Burkhalter shared information on preliminary results of Swiss presidency within the OSCE in 2014, which was supported by Uzbekistan.
At the meeting, the sides also considered several actual international issues.
Currently, there are 77 enterprises with Swiss capital in Uzbekistan, including 22 enterprises with 100% Swiss capital. Trade turnover between two states is growing.
