Irfan Yusuf Shami appointed as Pakistani envoy to Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 2 August 2017, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Irfan Yusuf Shami.

Minister received the copy of the credentials of the Ambassador, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

During the conversation the sides discussed the current state of the Uzbek-Pakistani relations, prospective directions of interaction in political and security areas, taking into account the full membership of Pakistan in the SCO, and deepening mutually beneficial relations in the trade and economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The sides expressed mutual interest in enhancing cooperation on a systematic basis, and in this regard they confirmed the importance of setting Road Map with the specific bilateral events, including the activation of contacts between representatives of the business circles of Uzbekistan and Pakistan in various formats.

At the meeting the parties exchanged views on some international and regional issues.
