Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A video conference with representatives of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has been organized by the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Dunyo reports.
During the event, issues related to the participation of Uzbekistan in UNCTAD programs to promote trade and support the attraction of investments within the framework of the agreements reached during the online meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov with the Secretary General were substantively discussed. Frank Grozel, coordinator of UNCTAD's trade facilitation and investment support programs, welcomed Uzbekistan’s efforts to further create an enabling environment for business and investment in the country.
It is reported that UNCTAD has developed a number of special electronic platforms to enhance and expand access to trade and investment information to comply with the World Trade Organization (WTO) Trade Facilitation Agreement.
One of them is trade and investment portals, designed to facilitate trade and attract investment for foreign and local private sector representatives. They provide the opportunity to publish detailed online information on trade and investment procedures in the country.
According to the United Nations, the creation of this portal will save enterprises time and operating costs, especially for commercial companies and enterprises engaged in the import, export, transit of goods and attracting investments.
UNCTAD expressed its readiness to assist in the creation of the electronic investment portal of Uzbekistan.
