International Trade Center to be built in Termez

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the master plan of the Termez International Trade Center.

About 26 hectares of land in Termez district have been allocated for this center. The center, with a total value of US$75 million, will house terminals for receiving, storing, processing, sorting and packaging, as well as selling products. All the necessary infrastructure will be created.

According to the project, the complex will have 1,800 retail outlets, a logistics center with a capacity of 50,000, two hotels with 400 beds, hospitals and car service points. It is planned to place shops on the first floors of the buildings, and light industry enterprises on the second.

It is estimated that the annual turnover of the International Trade Center will be US$500 million, and the volume of services - US$10 million. Exports worth US$192 million will pass through the center.

About US$10 million was allocated from the Fund for Reconstruction and Development to start the construction of the center.

The head of state instructed to build the buildings of the center from lightweight structures, attract regional entrepreneurs to service the center and export, as well as create all the necessary conditions for foreign business people. The need was emphasized to organize, taking into account the experience accumulated here, similar trade centers in areas bordering with other neighboring countries.

The commissioning of the Termez International Trade Center is scheduled for 2022.
