International Investment Forum “Invest in Tashkent region” to be held in Nurafshon

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, together with the khokimiyat of Tashkent Region, announces the holding of the International Investment Forum “Invest in Tashkent Region” on 25-26 October 2019.

It is expected that the 2-day forum will bring together about 250 guests from over 50 countries - government delegations, institutional investors and business representatives. The dynamically developing metropolitan region, which ensured the doubling of the domestic regional product from 2015 to 2018, is a unique platform for capital investment in the real sector of the economy.

 “The investment forum is designed to demonstrate the unique growth potential that distinguishes the Tashkent region. Developed infrastructure, human resources, a wonderful climate and rich mineral resources allow you to safely invest in agriculture, industry and the tourism sector. Our first priority is to create new jobs for the growing population of the region, and at the same time to create a new quality of life. All this is possible only with the active involvement of investors, for whom we intend to provide ideal conditions,” Rustam Kholmatov, Khokim of the Tashkent region, said.

Free economic zones made it possible to diversify the economy of the region in the shortest possible time, having achieved serious indicators in the production of textiles, building materials and electrical devices, as well as laying the foundation for creating promising production lines for medicines and medical equipment.

Commenting on the event, the deputy governor of the Tashkent region, Jamshid Abdusalamov noted: “Economic reforms carried out under the leadership of our President Shavkat Mirziyoyev have literally breathed new life into the business activity of the region. Just one figure can replace the whole financial report: the growth rate of industrial production in our country increased from 5.4% in 2017 to 15.6% in 2018. Actual tripling of this most important indicator indicates the correctness of our chosen development strategy for the territory.

Following the IITR, it is planned to sign a number of agreements with investors from the EU, OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development - an international economic organization of developed countries), Asia-Pacific, the CIS and the Middle East. Representatives of the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Finance Corporation, the Asian Development Bank, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the Japan International Cooperation Agency and other reputable organizations are invited to the forum.
