International Innovation Ideas Week “InnoWeek–2025” Underway in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The International Innovation Ideas Week “InnoWeek–2025” is currently taking place at the Central Asian Expo (CAEx) International Exhibition Center. The event is organized by the Agency for Innovative Development under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This year’s motto is “Ideas Without Borders.”

The Innovation Week is held annually under the Presidential Decree of April 27, 2018, “On Further Improving the System for Practical Implementation of Innovative Ideas, Technologies, and Projects.”

This year, more than 15,000 representatives from domestic and international companies, universities, research institutes, venture funds, financial organizations, and international databases are participating in InnoWeek–2025. Delegates and ambassadors from nearly 30 countries, including China, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Germany, France, Hungary, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, have arrived in Tashkent.

Opening Ceremony

The official opening ceremony was held on October 9 in the Alpha Hall of the CAEx International Exhibition Center. It was attended by government officials, ministry and agency heads, members of the diplomatic corps, scientists, experts, as well as young inventors and researchers.

The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, Kongratbay Sharipov, delivered the welcoming address, noting that “InnoWeek is becoming one of the key platforms for promoting innovative ideas, sharing best practices, and developing international partnerships.”

Participants were also addressed by Hilola Umarova, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration for Education System Reform, and Zulaikho Makhkamova, Deputy Prime Minister, who expressed confidence that all events of the week would be held at a high level and would provide a strong impetus for the development of the country’s innovation ecosystem.

Reforms and Strategic Development

Organizers emphasize that the reforms underway in Uzbekistan create favorable conditions for building a modern research environment, attracting investment, and strengthening international cooperation.

New mechanisms for supporting science and innovation are being actively implemented in the country. Key legislative acts have been adopted or updated, including the Laws on “Science and Scientific Activities,” “Innovation Activities,” and “Education.”

The Science Development Concept through 2030 and the Innovation Development Strategy for 2022–2026 are in effect, along with the “Uzbekistan–2030” Strategy, which identifies priority areas for scientific and technological progress and the green economy.

International Participation

Each year, the geography of InnoWeek participants expands. In 2025, more than 130 foreign delegates are attending, including scientists, ministry leaders, representatives of innovation centers, and major corporations.

The Iranian delegation is led by Turaj Amrai, Vice President for Science, Technology, and Innovation Economy, and includes representatives from over 20 scientific and technological companies.

Germany is represented by approximately 15 universities, research institutes, and innovative enterprises under the aegis of the Federal Ministry for Research, Technology, and Space.

Official delegations are also coming from Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Hungary, Korea, and Malaysia.

Business Program

The week’s program includes around 30 events: international conferences, seminars, forums, roundtables, B2B meetings, and presentations. The primary goal is to strengthen scientific and industrial integration, exchange knowledge, and implement innovative solutions in the economy.

Key events include the International Conference on Scientific Communications, organized by the Scientific and Technical Information Center under the Agency for Innovative Development. Participants include Sir Peter Gluckman, President of the International Science Council (ISC) from New Zealand, a renowned scientist and author of over 700 scientific publications, and Rik Lemans, Professor at Wageningen University (Netherlands), specializing in ecosystem analysis, sustainable development, and biodiversity.
