“Intergaz Central Asia” Files US$2 Million Claim Against “Uztransgaz” at Astana International Financial Centre
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — JSC “Intergaz Central Asia” (ICA) has filed a claim with the Arbitration Centre of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) against the Uzbek company JSC “Uztransgaz,” industry expert Oleg Chervinsky reported on his Telegram channel.
According to Chervinsky, the lawsuit concerns payment for the transportation of Uzbek gas through Kazakhstan, amounting to approximately US$2 million, based on ICA’s calculations and expert assessments. Uztransgaz, however, has its own calculations, since the metering station is located in Uzbekistan, and the company’s legal advisors consider the claims to be unfounded. Moreover, Uztransgaz has filed counterclaims, prompting ICA to temporarily suspend the proceedings and engage external consultants.
JSC “Intergaz Central Asia” is part of the national company JSC “QazaqGaz” and is responsible for the main gas transportation network. In July 2018, ICA was designated the national operator for the main gas pipeline and manages both domestic transportation and transit of natural gas across Kazakhstan via pipelines totaling more than 20,600 km.
JSC “Uztransgaz” is a major energy company in Uzbekistan, involved in the transportation, storage, and sale of gas, gas condensate, and oil. In 2019, by presidential decree, Uztransgaz was separated from JSC “Uzbekneftegaz,” leading to the establishment of two independent companies: JSC “Uztransgaz” and JSC “Khududgaztaminoт.”
