Institute of Oriental Studies to open Sinology Faculty

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution “On creating faculty of sinology at Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies” on 3 September 2014.

The document was adopted to prepare highly skilled sinologists, fluent in Chinese language and knowledge of history, culture, politics and economy of China, etc.

Uzbek President approved a proposal of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education, Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan on creation of faculty of sinology at Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies.

Islam Karimov entrusted Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education and Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies to create a group of students with specialization of sinology on such directions as Chinese philology – 34 people, world politics – 25 people and economy of the countries and regional geography – 25 people.

Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education, Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan were entrusted to implement a complex of measures on establishing partnership relations between Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies and Chinese institutes to exchange specialists and students, implement joint educational programmes, further development of Confucius Institute at Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies, as well as attract grants to organize activities of the institute.
