Innovation Ministry cooperates with international organizations in development of the Strategy for Innovative Development

Mr. Shermatov noted that at this stage the leadership of the Republic of Uzbekistan pays special attention to creation of a modern and developed innovative ecosystem. Thus, one of the tasks set by the Republic’s leadership was formation of an effective innovation development strategy.

During the meeting, participants exchanged views on development of the Strategy for Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan and were introduced to the conceptual approach to the drafting of this document. Representatives of the international mission said the importance of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the possible integration of the objectives of the Innovative Development Strategy with the SDGs.

In turn, Sherzod Shermatov said that the Global Innovation Index is one of the most effective tools for assessing the implementation of the strategy. The reason for this is that the GII is an internationally recognized indicator of innovative development and demonstrates a multifaceted approach in shaping the final assessment of innovation activity in each area.

Following the meeting, both sides expressed interest in mutually beneficial cooperation and agreed to cooperate in finalizing the country’s innovative development strategy in the working order.
