Indian experts on transformation processes in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The embassy of Uzbekistan in Delhi, together with the Indian Analytical Research Center "India - Central Asia", organized a "round table" on the modern development of Uzbekistan, Dunyo reported.

The event was attended by representatives of socio-political, expert and academic circles and the media in India. Among them were also international observers from India, who will take part in monitoring the voting process in the parliamentary elections in Uzbekistan on 22 December.

The participants of the round table were provided with detailed information on the contents of the report of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the solemn meeting dedicated to the 27th anniversary of the Constitution of Uzbekistan. The participants were also very interested in the preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections in the republic, as well as the presentation on the results of the regional policy of Uzbekistan. In this context, they had the opportunity to exchange views on the outcome of the second Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Leaders, held on 29 November in Tashkent.

The Indian experts who spoke at the event positively assessed the consistent nature of the reform process in Uzbekistan.

In particular, the chairman of the Indian-Uzbek friendship society Anil Shastri emphasized that today there is a tremendous transformation of the Uzbek society. “The growing pace of positive changes is characteristic in all spheres of the country’s life. We see the deep commitment of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the political and economic modernization of the republic. At the same time, the active efforts of Uzbekistan to comprehensively deepen regional cooperation contribute to the growth of the country’s international authority,” he said.

Ashok Sharma, vice president of the India-Central Asia Analytical Research Center, commenting on the results of the second Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Leaders, said that the issues discussed and the proposals put forward during the forum reflect important aspects of further deepening cooperation between the countries of the region.

He also shared his assessments of the election process in Uzbekistan. According to him, "sharp inter-party debates, open discussions of the most pressing problems for society, close monitoring by the national media of the election programs of candidates demonstrate a new political reality in Uzbekistan."

Harjinder Talwar, president of the women’s organization of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of India, spoke about her trip to Uzbekistan. “At every step, I witnessed positive things: government officials are very open and accessible, people have great enthusiasm for the prosperity of their country, broad conditions are created for business,” she said.

- I look forward to participating in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Uzbekistan as an international observer. I am sure that these elections will be another important step in deepening the democratic transformations in the country,” added Talwar.

Ashok Dariani, President of Sharda Group’s International Relations, spoke about the opening of a branch of Shard University in Andijan in September of the current academic year.

- We have a very positive impression of working in Uzbekistan. We are very grateful to the President of Uzbekistan for the created favorable conditions for foreign investors, including for the implementation of our project in Andijan, he emphasized.
