Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 15 June, a meeting of the Senate Kengash of the Oliy Majlis took place in the form of video conference. The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the upper house of parliament Tanzila Narbaeva.

During the meeting, issues of socio-economic development of Surkhandarya region, solving problems that concern the population, improving its living conditions, and also heard reports of sector leaders on work in this direction were discussed.

It was noted that on 8-10 June, a working group of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis randomly studied the activities of sectors in one of the districts of Surkhandarya region assigned to the heads of sectors: in Baysun, Sherabad, Muzrab, and Kumkurgan districs. Senators were also involved in the study. In order to identify problems that concern the population, discussions were held directly with the deputies of the district Kengashes. During the study, the working group also analyzed indicators of the socio-economic development of the region.

In particular, in the first quarter of 2020 in the region, the gross territorial product made up 4 trillion 78 billion soums, the growth rate was 7.1% compared to the same period of last year. In the reporting period, capital investments in the amount of 1 trillion 657.2 billion soums were attracted to the regional economy from all sources of financing, work in this direction was completed by 25% compared to the same period of last year.

In addition, products of 207 enterprises of the region were exported to 31 foreign countries in the amount of 49 million 645.4 thousand US dollars and the growth rate was 23.3% compared to the same period of 2019.

At the same time, there was noted work on the ground aimed at identifying and eliminating sectors of the problems that caused complaints of the population, resolving issues raised by citizens during visiting visits, as well as supporting families in need within the framework of the nation-wide kindness and support movement.

At the meeting, senators noted that the activities of all sectors of the region were ineffectively organized, and work in this direction was not established on a systematic basis. For example, some sectors have been superficial in their development of Roadmaps to address the concerns raised by the population that are justifiable.

In addition, they criticized the existence of a problem associated with the school due to the large population in the village of Denau of the mahalla gathering of citizens “Alpomish” in the Muzrabat district, the lack of confirmation of some information on providing citizens with work within the framework of the nationwide movement “Compassion and Support”.

On the territory of the 1st sector of Baysun district, commercial banks on 12 projects have not yet allocated loans to entrepreneurs in the amount of 6 billion 174 thousand soums.

It was noted that work with citizens’ appeals was not well established. At the same time, it is necessary to eliminate problems in the area of drinking water, electricity, repair and construction of pre-school educational institutions and secondary schools, take the necessary measures to restore enterprises that have been suspended, and provide entrepreneurs with comprehensive practical assistance and support in fulfilling the forecast export parameters.

The meeting also heard reports of sector leaders on the socio-economic development of the region, solving problems of concern to the population, improving their living conditions.

The relevant resolution of the Kengash of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis was adopted on this issue.
