In Syrdarya Region, Teen Driving Father’s Car in Accident Leaves Two Dead

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Syrdarya region, a 15-year-old boy took his father’s car without permission, along with friends, and was involved in a serious accident, the regional police department reported.

The incident occurred on 19 September at around 22:00 on the first kilometer of the local road from Sholikor to Syrdarya in the Furkat mahalla. Two underage passengers died as a result of the crash. The driver was hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the district hospital with severe injuries.

A criminal case has been opened under paragraph “a” of part 3 of Article 266 of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation).

Investigative actions are currently underway. The perpetrator faces up to ten years in prison along with certain restrictions on rights.
