Improving responsibilities of journalists discussed in Uzbek capital

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Public Fund for Supporting and Developing of Independent Print Mass Media and Information Agencies of Uzbekistan in cooperation with international center for teaching journalists, offices of the UN, UNESCO, World Bank in Uzbekistan held a roundtable entitled “Issues of improving professional ethics and responsibility of journalists”.

Representatives of print and electronic mass media, international and public organizations, state bodies and administrations participated in the event.

The event is aimed at discussing issues related to professional activities of the journalists and adhering to ethic norms in their works.

It was underlined that it is important to adhere to legislation and ethic norms in their operation and carefully adopt decision on controversial issues.

During the meeting, the participants considered local and foreign experience of ethics in print media and adhering to professional standards in journalism. It was underlined that the journalists should guarantee that people receive objective and trustful information.

The participants noted that development of Internet journalism makes this issue important. Development of this kind of journalism in the world associated with the emergence of cases of permissiveness, disrespect, aggression, rejection of others’ opinions.

At the meeting, the attendees received answers to questions related to journalism ethics and international experience in this area.

Within the event, the presentation of the project a professional code of ethic norms of journalists of Uzbekistan has been held.
