Imports of Electric Vehicles in Uzbekistan Doubled, Share of Eco-Friendly Transport Reaches 58.6%

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From January to September 2025, Uzbekistan imported 56,259 passenger cars totaling US$807.14 million, according to the country’s Customs Committee.

Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of imported vehicles decreased by 12%, while the monetary value declined by 27.88%.

At the same time, imports of electric vehicles nearly doubled—from 20,189 units in January–September 2024 to 40,345 units in the first nine months of 2025. The value of imported electric cars rose from US$202.7 million to US$473.03 million, an increase of more than 2.3 times.

The share of electric vehicles in the total value of passenger car imports reached 58.6%, reflecting growing demand for eco-friendly and modern transportation.

Meanwhile, imports of internal combustion engine vehicles fell by 53.35% to 13,556 units, with their total value dropping by 56%, from US$628.38 million to US$276.74 million.

Imports of hybrid vehicles also sharply declined—from 14,622 units to 2,264 units—while the monetary flow fell from US$283.17 million to US$55.11 million, a decrease of 80.54%.

There was a slight increase in diesel vehicle imports, from 19 to 94 units, although in monetary terms their value decreased from US$4.91 million to US$2.25 million.
