Important issues discussed at meetings of local Kengashes

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 17 August, meetings of the Tashkent, Andijan, Namangan and Ferghana regional Kengashes of people’s deputies were held in the form of video conference. They were attended by Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva and Deputy Chairman of the upper house of parliament Zayniddin Nizamkhodjaev.

It was noted that during the video conference held on 12 August 2020 under the chairmanship of the President and dedicated to the development of industry in the regions, expansion of production of competitive products, it was instructed to gradually mitigate quarantine requirements.

It was emphasized that thanks to the timely and decisive measures taken in our country to combat the coronavirus, it was possible to prevent the negative consequences of the pandemic.

Approximately 20 decrees and resolutions of the head of state were adopted, and at the videoconferences, special attention is paid to the protection of public health, ensuring full access to medical services, as well as the sustainable functioning of the economic and social spheres.

At the sessions, it was noted that from now on it is necessary to get used to working in a pandemic, strictly observe the quarantine rules, and prevent the repetition of mistakes that were made earlier. It was also emphasized that senators and deputies should not remain on the sidelines.

In particular, it was said that, as representatives of the people, deputies and senators on their territory should conduct explanatory work among the population, express their views on the various problems that citizens face, and involve members of the Youth Parliament in this work.

During the sessions, the need for parliamentary control over such issues as public health protection during a pandemic and targeted use of allocated funds was noted.

In addition, the objections of the population related to the stories of including families in need of social protection in the "iron notebook" showed that in order to prevent corruption in this area, it is necessary, first of all, to strengthen parliamentary control, to hear and discuss reports and information from the executive authorities.

At the sessions, reports were heard from the heads of regional health departments, during which special attention was paid to such issues as the general situation with the coronavirus pandemic in the region, the state of the provision of medical services to the population during a pandemic, the population’s compliance with sanitary and hygienic rules, and strengthening work to maintain a stable epidemiological situation. , carrying out work on disinfection, stimulating medical workers and the targeted use of these funds.

It was also emphasized that local Kengashes should consider the implementation of strict parliamentary and public control over the implementation of the tasks set during the pandemic as a priority area of activity.
