Implementation of parliamentary project discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The fourth meeting of the Steering Committee of the Further Strengthening of the Bi-Cameral Parliamentary System and Networking with Regional Assemblies project under the European Union’s DCI Programme for Uzbekistan took place on 10 December 2014 at the premises of the Uzbek Parliament.

The session considered implementation of the EU-funded parliamentary project in main phase and main directions of works in period of contract extension, the press service of the Senate said.

Members of Senate and its office, EU officials, managers of the projects, specialists and others attended the event.

It was noted that operational phase of the project was implemented from June 2013 to November 2014. In the result, several key tasks were achieved. In particular, analytical work on some draft laws were conducted. Single parliamentary network and electronic library at Senate and Jokargy Kenes of Karakalpakstan were launched. A single parliamentary information communication system connecting the Oliy Majlis chambers, the Jokargi Kenes and all local Kengashes of people’s deputies (at the level of regions) was also created.

At the previous session of the Steering Committee, the sides reached agreement on prolongation of financial agreement between the EU and Uzbekistan on the project for another year.

In new phase, it is planned to develop and introduce portals of the chambers of the parliament, their integration with future sub-systems such as electronic document turnover, electronic archive, Qonun (Law) search system, etc.

At the event, new information system of Senate was presented. The system was integrated with single parliamentary network, which will help to interact parliament with local Councils of People’s Deputies.
