Illegal Use of Subsidies for Women’s Employment Detected in Andijan Region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At the initiative of the Anti-Corruption Agency and based on the Cabinet of Ministers’ decree No. 307 dated 22 July 2023, a review was conducted on the targeted and effective use of subsidies in Andijan region.
The investigation revealed that officials from the Department for Poverty Reduction and Employment Promotion of Jalakuduk District, together with the director of LLC “S.T.X”, F.Kh., acted in violation of the law.
Specifically, under a social contract concluded in 2023, the employment of 25 unemployed women listed in the “Iron Register,” “Women’s Register,” “Youth Register,” and the Unified Social Protection Register was falsely documented. The women were allegedly employed by the company as seamstresses, and sewing equipment valued at 247.5 million soums was issued to them.
Based on the review materials, the Andijan Regional Prosecutor’s Office has initiated a criminal case under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
