Illegal Trafficking of Nearly 5 kg of Narcotics Stopped in Tashkent Region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of efforts to combat illegal drug trafficking, the State Security Service, in cooperation with law enforcement and customs authorities, conducted operational-search activities, resulting in the seizure of a significant amount of narcotics.
In Zangiata district of Tashkent region, authorities discovered and confiscated 10 packages containing a total of 4.956 kg of opium from a cache located near the Big Ring Road, previously used by drug couriers. The seizure was carried out in the presence of witnesses and documented in accordance with legal procedures.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 273, Part 5 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Investigative actions are ongoing to identify the owners of the confiscated narcotics.
It is noted that such narcotics are smuggled into the country from abroad, posing a serious threat to public safety.
