Illegal Land Sales Cases Detected in Samarkand and Kashkadarya Regions
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Akdarya District of Samarkand Region, the head of a farm specializing in grain cultivation was detained while attempting to illegally transfer 3 hectares of land to a resident of Samarkand for greenhouse construction.
To process the land, the perpetrator demanded US$300,000 and received an advance of US$20,000. The operation was conducted jointly by the State Security Service and the regional Department of Internal Affairs.
A criminal case has been opened against the suspect under Articles 168 Part 4(a) and 211 Part 3(a) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, and an investigation is underway.
A similar case occurred in Karashi, Kashkadarya Region, where two local residents born in 1992 and 1998 conspired to demand 180 million soums from a resident of Kukdala District in exchange for 800 square meters of land from the state reserve for residential construction.
After receiving an advance of US$10,000, they were detained by the State Security Service and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes. A criminal case has also been opened against them under Articles 168 Part 2(a), (b) and 211 Part 1 of the Criminal Code, and the investigation continues.
