Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- When carrying out operative search activities, customs officers timely suppress attempts to illegally import various commodities and material values into the territory of our state.

According to the press service of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, another detected case is connected with an attempt to illegally import citrus fruits of unknown quality.

During an operational event held the other day by employees of the Main Directorate for Combating Smuggling and Customs Audit of the State Customs Committee, an Isuzu truck driving along the Namangan-Tashkent route was stopped in the prescribed manner and inspected with the participation of attesting witnesses.

As a result of the inspection, 220 units of boxes were found in the cargo department of the car, which contained a total of 3,500 kg of lemons grown in Argentina. According to preliminary estimates, the total value of discovered citrus fruits was 200 million soums.

During the event it turned out that all the goods belonged to a certain citizen Yu.G. and imported according to his own plan.

Currently, on the revealed fact of the offense, customs inspections are underway.
