Illegal fishing prevented at Lake Tudakul in Navoi region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The State Environmental Control Inspectorate (Eco-Police), together with officers of the internal affairs bodies, the National Guard and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, conducted another inspection raid in the Navoi region.

During the operation in Kyzyltepa district, at Lake Tudakul, an incident of illegal harvesting of aquatic biological resources was uncovered. It was established that three individuals, using prohibited fishing gear—monofilament nets—illegally caught 39 fish of two species. The damage caused to wildlife was estimated at 120,304,000 soums.

In addition, another case of poaching was identified on the same body of water: 417 fish of five species were illegally caught, with the damage assessed at 561,968,000 soums. Investigative measures are currently underway regarding this incident.

The violators were found in possession of monofilament nets with a total length of 300 meters, along with 456 fish of five species weighing a total of 416 kilograms. The seized nets and biological resources have been attached to the case as material evidence.

Inspection and enforcement activities aimed at identifying and preventing violations of environmental legislation are ongoing.
