Illegal Cryptocurrency Activity Stopped in Namangan Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During the “Safe Cyberspace” operation in Namangan region, officers from the State Security Service and law enforcement agencies uncovered illegal cryptocurrency activities, according to the regional police press service.

A 24-year-old resident of Kasansay district was detained for conducting crypto transactions on the Binance platform without the required license. Between 2 and May 19 March 2025, he carried out 35 illegal transactions totaling 542 million soms. His iPhone 11 was seized as evidence.

Additionally, a 37-year-old man in Naryn district was detained for similar operations conducted from 20 May to 29 November 2024. He reportedly executed 35 transactions totaling 1.717 billion soms, and his Poco F3 mobile phone was confiscated.

Criminal cases have been opened under paragraph “a” of part 3 of Article 278-8 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (“Violation of legislation on cryptocurrency circulation, committed on a particularly large scale”). Investigations are ongoing.
