Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - In the course of an operational event held by employees of the department for combating smuggling and customs violations of the Office of the State Customs Committee for the city of Tashkent in cooperation with the special forces detachment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and representatives of the National Guard, a warehouse was discovered where it was previously illegally stored tobacco products imported through bypass roads from neighboring countries.
To this room, which is located on the territory of Mirabad district of the capital, tobacco products were imported in small quantities in a Nexia automobile. It was also found that in order to avoid suspicion, a state license plate from a completely different car was attached to the car.
During the operational measure, 58 thousand 884 units of packs of 8 types of tobacco products were illegally stored in the premises. According to preliminary estimates, the total value of tobacco products not labeled with excise stamps amounted to 1 billion 400 million soums.
Currently, operational measures are being taken to identify the remaining members of the criminal group and other places where smuggled tobacco products were delivered.
