Illegal Children’s Religious “Khujra” Uncovered in Samarkand Region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Urgut district of Samarkand Region, authorities uncovered an illegal religious class for children.
An operation carried out jointly by the State Security Service of Samarkand Region and local law enforcement revealed that a resident of Fergana Region, born in 1991, had organized a religious “khujra” in the Dustlik mahalla without the necessary education or permits.
According to the investigation, between 2011 and 2016, the suspect conducted lessons for seven boys for personal gain, despite lacking the qualifications to teach religious studies.
A criminal case has been initiated against the detainee under part 2 of Article 229² of the Criminal Code (violation of the rules for conducting religious education). The court has placed him in pre-trial detention. Investigators continue to examine all circumstances of the case.
Law enforcement authorities urge parents not to entrust their children’s education to individuals without proper religious qualifications, warning of potentially serious consequences for their future.
