Ilgizar Sabirov receives speaker of Federation Council

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Ilgizar Sabirov received the chairperson of the Federation Council of Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matvienko, the press service of the upper house of Russian parliament.

The delegation of Russia includes include deputy chairperson of the Federation Council Ilyas Umahanov and the first deputy chairperson of the committee of the Federation Council on international affairs Vladimir Jabarov.

Uzbekistan is an important political and trade-economic partner of Russia, speaker of the Russian Federation Council said. She said that the Russian-Uzbek relations are developing on principles of ally and strategic partnership thanks to political dialogue between leaders of two nations.

Valentina Matvienko underlined that there are significant reserves for inter-parliamentary of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia. She said that the role of the parliaments in international affairs, including in the CIS space, is increasing. Matvienko said that the development of the legislative bodies is one effective ways to promotion bilateral and multilateral relations.

The chairperson of the Federation Council said that she hopes to develop inter-parliamentary dialogue between two nations. Russian speaker called to resume operation of friendship of the Federation Council and Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.

As a chairperson of the Council of Inter-parliamentary Assembly of the CIS states, Valentina Matvienko said that the CIS leaders pay great attention of the Assembly and support its activities. She invited the head of the Senate of Uzbekistan to participate in the upcoming session of the Assembly, which will be held on 28-29 November in Saint Petersburg.

Valentina Matvienko welcomed accession of Uzbekistan to the agreement of free trade zone in the CIS. She said that this step will help to raise competitiveness of economies of two states and increase bilateral trade turnover.

Matvienko said the regional relations also contribute to development of bilateral relations. The Federation Council and Senate of Oliy Majlis could take patronage over cooperation among the regions of Uzbekistan and Russia, which would be useful for bilateral ties.

Speaker of the Federation Council said that about 70 regions of Russia cooperates with economic entities of Uzbekistan. Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Bashkortostan, Voronej, Chelyabinsk, Irkutsk and Sverdlovsk regions are the most active trade partners of Uzbekistan.

Valentina Matvienko invited the chairperson of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan to visit Russia in 2014.

Chairperson of Senate of Uzbekistan supported proposal of his Russian counterpart. Ilgizar Sobirov said that development of parliamentary relations will contribute to development of relations between two nations.

Ilgizar Sobirov underlined that current realities require from parliamentarians more effective interaction and exchange experience on all directions of bilateral cooperation.
