Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 29 June, an international scientific and practical online conference was held on the topic “Ideas and Initiatives of Young Women in the Development of Science, Education and the Digital Economy”.

The event was organized by the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan in conjunction with the Central Council of the Union of Youth of Uzbekistan, the Commission on Gender Equality of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry for Support of the Mahalla and the Family, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Institute for the Study of Youth Problems and Training Perspective Personnel, and UNDP.

The conference was attended by members of the Senate, deputies, experts living abroad, women who have achieved success in a certain field, young researchers, journalists and bloggers, as well as active members of the Voice of the Girls club.

It was noted that in recent years, Uzbekistan has significantly increased attention to women, expanded the scope of opportunities for them. The number of women in the national parliament has increased. 32% of the deputies elected to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis are women. In the Senate, this figure reached almost 25%. 31% of deputies of local Kengashes are women. By the number of women deputies, the parliament of Uzbekistan rose to 37th place among 190 national parliaments of the world. 5 years earlier, he was in 128th place.

The objectives of the conference, organized within the framework of the Voice of Girls platform, are to search for girls conducting scientific research in all areas of the state and society, the wide involvement of scientists, researchers, ensuring gender equality in the country on the basis of scientifically based proposals, developing recommendations in the field of protecting rights and interests of women. The conference in April 2020 was announced in foreign and local media, social networks, and by June 1, abstracts, articles and proposals were accepted.

The conference is organized by sectors. The materials received at the conference were studied by the editorial board. In total, articles and materials from 279 authors were received. Authors of the best 10 articles can become winners.

Within the framework of the conference, with the participation of representatives of the relevant ministries, departments and international organizations, along with achievements, problems related to girls were also discussed.

During the scientific-practical conference, an exchange of views took place both on the experience accumulated over many years, the successes achieved, and on issues related to increasing the socio-political activity of women. With the assistance of experts, the experience of about 10 foreign countries such as the USA, Italy, India, Sweden was analyzed.

At the end of the event, recommendations and suggestions were developed. Conference participants were awarded diplomas and certificates.
