ICF purchases medical equipment to support government efforts to control the spread of coronavirus

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The International Chodiev Foundation (ICF) has purchased medical equipment for the Virology Research Institute of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan in support of government measures to combat the spread of coronavirus.

In order to help combat the spread of coronavirus infection in the Republic of Uzbekistan, the International Chodiev Foundation (ICF) is transferring medical equipment and personal protective equipment for doctors to the Virology Research Institute. The humanitarian aid program for the Institute of Virology, organized jointly with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, is the next stage of the ICF's extensive charity program to support the country's population in a global pandemic.

“The first medical institution to accept patients with COVID-19 is the clinic of the Research Institute of Virology of the Ministry of Health. Thanks to the dedicated work of the doctors and specialists of the clinic, we were able to cure the first sick citizens and restore the faith of millions of Uzbek people by virtue of modern medicine,” said Bahodir Nizomov, Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

According to the director of the Research Institute of Virology Erkin Musabaev, “the medical equipment and protective equipment acquired by ICF will become a significant support to the research institute in diagnosing and treating patients. Our doctors are doing everything possible to ensure that every sick person returns to their relatives wholesome as soon as possible, by common efforts we are trying to cope with the pandemic, and such help from philanthropists is now a great help to us.”

On 19 March 2020, the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On priority measures to mitigate the negative impact on the economy of the coronavirus pandemic and global crisis phenomena” was issued. The decree includes a number of measures aimed, inter alia, at social support of the population, protection of health, employment and income of Uzbeks. The International Chodiev Foundation (ICF) has joined the Government’s fight against the spread of coronavirus and has launched an extensive charity program consisting of several stages.

The previous stages of the program were implemented jointly with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan and included the provision of food and disinfectants to elderly people and low-income families throughout the country, the transfer of humanitarian aid to the Unified Coordination Center for Assistance to the Poor in Tashkent, as well as assistance to victims of the flood in the Syrdarya region.
