Ice Without Borders: Kyrgyz Hockey Teams Join Uzbekistan Championship

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the 2025/26 season, five teams will participate in the Uzbekistan Open Hockey Championship—three from Uzbekistan and two from Kyrgyzstan.

Uzbekistan will be represented by:

“Humo” (Tashkent),
“Sherdor” (Samarkand),
“Binokor” (Tashkent).

From Kyrgyzstan, the tournament will feature:

SDYUSHORSI “Alga” (Bishkek),
“Uchur” (Bishkek).

The first matches of the away round will take place from November 6 to 10 at the Bishkek Arena in Bishkek.

This is the first season in which the Uzbekistan Championship is being held in an open format. In previous years, only local clubs participated. The inclusion of foreign teams aims to raise the level of competition and develop hockey infrastructure in the region.

Players from Uzbek clubs are expected to form the core of the junior and senior national teams, which will compete in the World Championships in their respective divisions in spring 2026.

The Open Championship will serve as an important stage of preparation for these upcoming international tournaments.
