Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Following the first session of the Uzbek-Tajik Supreme Intergovernmental Council, a ceremony was held to sign and exchange key bilateral documents. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon endorsed a Joint Statement dedicated to deepening strategic partnership and allied relations between the two countries.

At the level of governments, ministries, and agencies, a package of documents was signed to expand multi-faceted cooperation. Key initiatives include programs to increase trade turnover and industrial cooperation, agreements on mutual use of electronic systems for certifying the origin of goods, as well as accords in healthcare and cross-border radio frequency coordination.

Additionally, a protocol amending the intergovernmental agreement on the establishment of the Uzbek-Tajik Investment Company was signed, along with documents on collaboration through the “E-Permit” information system, and an agreement on scientific cooperation between the national academies of both countries.

Approved plans cover activities in industry, innovation, mining, and new technologies for 2026–2028, as well as cultural exchange programs for 2026–2027. Separate “roadmaps” were signed for tourism development and the agro-industrial sector, along with memorandums on cooperation in innovation, public administration, finance, education, and the enforcement of judicial acts.
