Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Law enforcement authorities in Uzbekistan have seized a large quantity of narcotics hidden inside a welding machine during a joint operation in the Khorezm region.

The operation, conducted under the “Safe and Healthy Country” initiative, involved officers from the State Security Service, customs authorities, and internal affairs bodies targeting illegal drug trafficking.

During an inspection in the Koshkupir district, officers examined a welding machine belonging to a 24-year-old resident of the Urgut district in the Samarkand region. Inside the equipment, they discovered 1.46 kilograms of heroin and 27 grams of opium concealed within.

According to investigators, the suspect had received the drugs from traffickers in Tajikistan and intended to distribute them to clients in the Khorezm region for illicit profit. A criminal case has been initiated against the individual.

Authorities are continuing efforts to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the crime.
