“Hearts of Four” Project by Rossotrudnichestvo: A Theatrical Dialogue That Unites

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The International Theatrical Project “Hearts of Four” is currently taking place in Tashkent, bringing together Russian dramatic theaters from across Uzbekistan.

From November 2 to 7, 2025, the capital hosts the third series of meetings for theater troupes from Tashkent, Samarkand, and Ferghana.

The project is implemented by the Rossotrudnichestvo representation in Uzbekistan with the participation of the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan.

This year, the program features leading Russian theater and education professionals:

Grigory Zaslavsky, Rector of the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS);

Marina Timasheva, theater critic, scholar, and Golden Mask award expert;

Anna Trifonova, director and GITIS master instructor;

Karen Nersisyan, director at the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts (RGISI).

Professional Dialogue and Directing Workshops

The program opened with a panel discussion involving representatives of GITIS, faculty from the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan, actors, directors, and theater critics. The central theme focused on cooperation between Russian dramatic theaters in Uzbekistan and GITIS, as well as the exchange of educational and creative practices.

As part of the project, directing workshops are being conducted. Anna Trifonova and Karen Nersisyan staged sketches based on the plays:

A. N. Ostrovsky — The Forest

A. V. Sukhovo-Kobylin — Krechinsky’s Wedding

The premiere presentation of the sketches will take place on November 7 at the State Academic Russian Drama Theater, starting at 18:00.

Charity Program and Audience Engagement

Each day, audiences are offered charitable performances by Uzbek theaters. The program includes both classical and contemporary works, such as: Roads of Memory, The Power of Talent based on M. Zoshchenko’s stories, Uncle Vanya by A. Chekhov, Bobok by F. Dostoevsky, Oh, That Nasreddin, The Choice based on S. Mrozek’s play, The Oath by B. Irzaev, and Tales of Melpomene based on A. Chekhov’s stories.

A Space for Dialogue and Cultural Exchange

The “Hearts of Four” project provides a platform for creative exchange among directors, actors, and theater schools from different cities.

Participants note that working together on productions becomes not only a professional endeavor but also a cultural bridge, strengthening ties between theatrical traditions.

Audiences witness a live creative experiment, while actors and directors engage in a process where theater serves as a language of mutual understanding and collaboration.
