Head of Uzbelas Performance Tuning Studio Arrested in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The head of the Uzbelas Performance tuning studio, A. J., has been arrested in Tashkent, the press service of the Supreme Court reported.
Earlier, the General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan reviewed a video interview given by A. J., after which the Mirzo-Ulugbek Criminal Court on January 16 imposed a fine of 20 base calculation units (equivalent to 8.4 million soums) under Article 195‑2 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility. This article holds individuals accountable for distributing photos or videos of law enforcement officers in a distorted manner that discredits them.
For an objective legal assessment, on 26 February, the Mirzo-Ulugbek District Prosecutor’s Office filed a protest with the criminal judicial board of the Tashkent City Court.
On 27 February, the criminal judicial board of the Tashkent City Court reviewed the administrative case on appeal and annulled the initial fine. Instead, A. J. was sentenced to 10 days of detention under the same Article 195‑2.
This decision underscores the strict stance of Uzbek law enforcement authorities toward the dissemination of materials that distort the image of officers and pose a threat to their professional reputation.
