Head of Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation Meets with Getty Museum Leadership in the U.S.

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 25 February in Los Angeles, Gayané Umerova, Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Foundation, held a meeting with Timothy Potts, Director of the J. Paul Getty Museum.

During the discussions, the parties engaged in a detailed exchange of views on effective museum management, strategic institutional development, and the preservation, study, and interpretation of cultural heritage.

As part of the visit, the Foundation’s delegation toured the Getty Villa, where they were introduced to the historic architectural complex and the operations of the museum’s restoration laboratories. Particular attention was given to modern restoration techniques, museum collection storage standards, and research-based approaches to ensuring the preservation of cultural assets.

The program continued at the Getty Center, where the Uzbek delegation explored the complex’s grounds and exhibition spaces.

The visit concluded with discussions on developing museum audiences, enhancing curatorial strategies, and the role of leading cultural institutions in expanding international dialogue and strengthening cooperation in the cultural sector.
