Head of Uzavtosanoat names problems in automobile industry
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The chairman of the board of Uzavtosanoat Shavkat Umurzakov named four problems of the automobile industry of Uzbekistan.
He said that there is a shortage of cash in the industry, which has negatively affected the volume of production. Also, the economic crisis in the world affects the activities of the industry.
In his view, the two exchange rates, which existed in Uzbekistan till September 2017, had also a negative impact on the industry.
"Everybody knows that after the devaluation, the exchange rate has risen, but the prices of cars have not grown so much. We have achieved that only 50% of the components are produced in the country, and other part are imported for the currency,” the head of Uzavtosanoat explained.
Corruption is another industry problem. He said that there is no automobile engineering in Uzbekistan and there is no intellectual property in the country, he added.
Shavkat Umurzakov also noted the wrong management system in the industry. He added that earlier cars were sold for export at a price below the cost price.
The head of the company said that measures will be taken to correct the situation in the industry.
