Head of religious affairs committee holds meeting with Apostolic Nuncio of Holy See

Vatican envoy underlined wide-scale changes, which take place in Uzbekistan. He said that he visited Urgench, where Catholic Church was opened. He said he was impressed with cohesion and unity of the local population. Vatican noted that the trip gave him opportunity to have a closer look at local authorities and believers.

In his turn, Ortiq Yusupov underlined that reforms in all spheres of the country take place each day and improve conditions for believers of various faith.

Ivan Jurkovič said that he would be happy to participate holidays and events of catholic and other religious, including those organized by the Committee on religious affairs.

Ortiq Yusupov approved the proposal of the Vatican envoy and said there are opportunities for further cooperation in this direction.

Yusupov proposes to Apostolic Nuncio to participate in future events and meet teachers and students of Tashkent Islamic University.

Yusupov also stressed that the Roman Catholic Church in Uzbekistan is one of the positive in terms of compliance with the national legislation among other non-Islamic religious organizations.
