Head of Malaysia’s Customs Department Visits Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation led by Datuk Wira Anis Rizany binti Mohd Zainuddin, Director General of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, is visiting Uzbekistan.

In March this year, Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan Akmalkhuja Mavlonov held bilateral talks in Kuala Lumpur with his Malaysian counterpart. The sides discussed prospects and directions for expanding cooperation in the customs sphere, and the Malaysian official received an invitation to visit Uzbekistan.

The current visit by Anis Rizany marks the first practical step in implementing the agreements reached during those talks.

The first stop on the delegation’s agenda was the 1st International “Uzbek Import Fair 2025,” dedicated to optimizing imports while increasing local content, which opened yesterday in Tashkent.

Exhibition pavilions featured goods that are among the most imported from Malaysia to Uzbekistan. Discussions focused on the potential for localizing their production using domestic raw materials and attracting Malaysian investors.

Trade between Uzbekistan and Malaysia grew by 33% in the first nine months of this year compared to the same period in 2024, underscoring the significant potential for expanding bilateral economic cooperation.
