Head of EU Department calls on European energy companies to invest in Uzbekistan’s energy

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 September, a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, led by the First Deputy Minister of Energy, took part in a seminar on ongoing reforms in the energy sector of Uzbekistan in Brussels.

This workshop was organized by the European Institute for Asian Studies with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Belgium. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.

The seminar was attended by over 90 people, in particular the head of the European Parliament delegation on Central Asia, representatives of the European Commission, the diplomatic corps of the USA, European and Asian countries, as well as the leaders of energy companies in Europe.

The First Deputy Minister of Energy J.Mirzamakhmudov acquainted the seminar participants with the progress in implementing large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan aimed at increasing the investment attractiveness of the country and ensuring the introduction of market mechanisms in the industry. On measures taken to attract direct private investors in generation, to stimulate the population and entrepreneurs introducing energy-efficient technologies.

Following the seminar, the Head of the Department of the European Commission on Foreign Relations praised the ongoing reforms in the Republic of Uzbekistan and emphasized that the country is undergoing major changes that strengthen international cooperation and encouraged European energy companies to invest in the energy sector of the Republic of Uzbekistan. She noted that the EU has extensive experience in energy efficiency and is ready to share its experience in introducing energy-efficient technologies and reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Separately, plans for the introduction of renewable energy sources were noted, in which the EU also expressed great interest and willingness to share skills and technologies.

Particular attention was drawn to the presentation of the company Ansaldo, which presented new technological solutions for the use of renewable energy in combination with the creation of reserve capacities based on hydrogen.
