Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent Regional Criminal Court sentenced Gulnora Karimova, born in 1972, to 10 years in prison in December 2017.
Showing humanity and taking into account the convicted commitments made to return criminal funds and compensation for damage caused to the state, the definition of the Tashkent Regional Criminal Court of July 1, 2018, Gulnara Karimova’s punishment was replaced by a 5 year restriction of liberty.
Gulnora Karimova will server the sentence at the place of residence of her daughter Iman Karimova.
At the same time, convicted Gulnara Karimov was charged with observing a number of restrictions established by law, including not to leave his home, not to use communications and the Internet, and to pay damages.
Ms Karimova explained that in case of malicious evasion from serving a sentence in the form of restriction of freedom, as well as not fulfilling the duties entrusted to her by the court, the court can replace the unserved term of restriction of liberty with another type of punishment.
However, convicted G.Karimova in the course of serving the sentence systematically violated the obligations established by the court.
So, on 22 November 2018, G.Karimova voluntarily left the place of residence, in connection with which she was warned about the inadmissibility of violation of the order and conditions of serving the sentence.
Despite the warning, G.Karimova, without making appropriate conclusions for herself, continued to maliciously violate the order and conditions of serving the sentence, including:
Based on a submission by the Probation Service under the GUIN of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, on March 5, 2019, the Yashnabad district criminal court decided to replace the punishment of convicted G.Karimova with imprisonment and serve the remainder of the prison term general regime in accordance with the penal legislation.
