GS Neotek to reconstruct water supply system of Jizzakh region

According to the ADB, GS Neotek and Uzkommunhizmat agency signed a contract for reconstruction of water supply system of Jizzakh region.

The cost of the project is US$21.1 million. It will be financed due to loan of the ADB and resources of the Uzbek side.

Within the contract, the Korean company will reconstruct one water intake facility and 55 km of drinking water supply facilities, as well as to build 33 km of new water supply networks in the two districts.

In 2009-2013, the ADB issued four tranches for US$300 million to the Government of Uzbekistan within the programme on improving water supply in rural areas of 11 regions of the country.

The projects will be realized till the end of 2018. Total cost of the programme makes up US$375 million. Uzbekistan will issue US$75 million to implementation of the programme.

Uzbekistan plans to implement projects on modernization on water supply and sewerage for US$4.32 billion. This will help to cover 100% population of the Uzbek cities with centralized water supply and rural population settlements – about 85-90%. The sewerage system will be available to 70% of population, who live in urban areas, which have sewerage system.
