Group of Uzbek Citizens Detained in Istanbul, Including Blogger Jasmin

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Information surfaced on social media yesterday about the detention of a group of Uzbek citizens in Istanbul, reportedly including the well-known blogger Jasmin.

The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul (Türkiye) confirmed the detentions and provided official comments on the situation.

According to the diplomatic mission, the operation took place on 29 September, and the following day the group was transferred to the Maltepe high-security penitentiary.

All detainees are suspected of involvement in crimes related to the illegal circulation of narcotics and psychotropic substances. Evidence collected during investigative operations has been submitted for forensic examination.

The investigation is ongoing.
