Government Approves Procedure for Population and Agricultural Census in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan has approved the “Regulation on the Procedure for Preparing and Conducting the Population and Agricultural Census,” the Ministry of Justice reported.

According to the document, the census will be conducted from 15 January to 28 February 2026. The official start is scheduled for 15 January 2026, at 00:00, with a total duration of 45 days.

When collecting data on personal and agricultural indicators, only the status as of the census date will be recorded; changes occurring after this date will not be captured. Specifically, questionnaires and other documents will not include children born after 15 January 2026, but will include individuals who pass away after that date.

In counting the population and its composition, Uzbek citizens residing outside the country for more than one year, foreign nationals who are employees of permanent missions of foreign states, international and intergovernmental organizations, or government institutions of foreign states accredited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as their family members and individuals enjoying diplomatic privileges and immunities under international treaties, will not be included.

Each respondent will be registered at their place of permanent or temporary residence, defined as the house, apartment, or other residential or non-residential premises where the person spends the majority of nighttime hours.
